11 kitchen cleaning hacks that can save your day

The kitchen is the most germ-ridden place in the whole house, in every house. Those germs can cause a variety of illnesses, starting with the flu and the common cold among many others. Therefore, a deep cleaning is crucial for your health and the health of your family.

We at  Bright Side are eager to make your life easier with each article we write and are excited to showcase our new collection of life hacks for a flawless kitchen.

Clean the greasy vents on the stove

To see the place in your kitchen that collects the fattest, look up. The vents on your stove can be the dirtiest. To clean them follow this process :

Take out the vents.

Boil water in a large stainless steel pot.

Gradually add about 1/4 cup of baking soda until bubbles appear in the boiling water. Be careful, don't add too much at once! Bring your grates to a boil in this mixture.

If you have a smaller pot, you will need to flip the rack several times, letting it sit for about 60 seconds each time.

Watch the fat come off

After this process, your vents will look like new!

Make kitchen tiles look like new

Big or small, any type of tile is very dirty. Let's apply some knowledge of chemistry to them!

Sprinkle baking soda on the tiles.

Use a spray bottle filled with cleaning vinegar (or 1/4 cup of bleach) and spray it over the baking soda.

Leave them for a few minutes.

Remove dirt.

Don't wait too long before repeating the cleaning: after a while, the dirt will come back.

Renovate ruined pans

Making your pots and pans look like new is a pretty easy job if you know this trick.

Pour a thin layer of water into the pan.

Add a couple of drops of vinegar.

Place it in the kitchen over medium to high heat and bring the water to a boil.

Remove the pan from the kitchen and gradually add a handful of baking soda, so that no bubbles will appear.

Scoop the solution out of the pan and begin scrubbing.

If necessary, you can rub stubborn stains with a little paste soda (soda plus water, mixed to a paste consistency ).

Cleaning your kitchen sponge

Sponges can transfer a ton of bacteria from one dish to another, so you should clean them at least once every other day. There is a certain way to do it:

To soften the sponge and loosen dirt and oils and kill bacteria, microwave it with a glass of water for a few minutes at max.

Put it in the dishwasher with other dishes using a long cycle. This will kill the unpleasant smell.

You'll get the cleanest sponge you've ever owned, not including a new one of course.

Cleaning stains from a not-so-stainless steel sink

Sinks pick up a ton of nasty stuff and there are ways to clean stains from your stainless steel sink (not always!). The following 4 things will help you do it:

Magic Eraser

Baking soda paste (diluted with water or a small amount of vinegar)

Detergent and peroxide (mix carefully)

Vinegar and detergent

Of course, you can try using stainless steel sponges, but in case you don't have them or don't want to buy them, we're sure you have some of these ingredients in your cupboard.

Get fat out of baking dishes

Baking dishes are the common victims of stains that you can't remove. Do this to make them look like new :

Cover the part that needs cleaning with a detergent and a mixture of baking soda.

Pour hot water over it and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Take a piece of aluminum foil and crumple it up.

Rub the plate with the aluminum ball.

Make an easy to clean tool between countertops

The easiest way to clean hard-to-reach places is to take a damp towel and wrap it around a butter knife. Add cleaning solution to dirty spots and remove dirt from cavities.

Polish the kitchen stove just by touching them

This is a hack that will not involve washing.

Take a Ziploc bag and fill it with 1/4 cup of ammonia.

Put your stove inside and close the bag.

Don't use more ammonia than necessary - gases are what do the trick, not the solution.

Leave it overnight.

Wipe off dirt with a damp sponge or towel.

Make the kitchen faucet shine again

Cleaning the taps will be much easier and faster if you do the following:

Get a Ziploc bag or a small plastic bag.

Add a magic solution of vinegar and soda, enough to cover the faucet.

Put the bag on the tap.

Secure the bag with a rubber band.

Wait about an hour before removing the bag. Wipe off the rest of the solution and scrub away the stubborn rust with an old toothbrush.

Be smarter than a garbage collector

This little trick will help you with dirty floors. Instead of using a dustpan after sweeping the surface, use a damp paper towel or baby wipe. Put the powder on it and lift it up and wipe the powder that did not accumulate with the other side of the towel.

Clean the fridge

To remove the unpleasant smell from your refrigerator, wash it with a combination of baking soda and vinegar, or:

Put potato skins in the fridge.

Take halves of an orange or a lemon, glue a good amount of carnations and place them on the shelf.

If you are a fan of vanilla, take a cotton ball soaked in vanilla extract and place it in the refrigerator in a small bowl. One of the lesser-known things you can use is activated charcoal. Place it on the top shelf (or each shelf) to reduce odors.
